Yolo Juneteenth has been an annual tradition with Yolo County Library since 2011 to help celebrate and remember the story of the Black and African American peoples’ freedom from enslavement in the United States. In 2021, after 155 years of many celebrations, President Biden announces that Juneteenth (June 19) is officially a federal holiday.
This year’s celebration will be hosted at the UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), located at 760 Orchard Road in Davis, on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is free to attend and this year’s celebration takes place early to honor and not interfere with the local Juneteenth festivities happening in surrounding cities on the day of the holiday.
Yolo Juneteenth Festival is supported, in part, by the Yolo County Library, Friends of the Davis Public Library, the City of Davis Human Relations Commission and Arts & Cultural Affairs Program and with the support from the UC Davis Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
