Bodhi Day

December 8
A weathered stone statue of Buddha sits cross-legged with one hand raised, surrounded by lush green trees and foliage.

Bodhi Day is observed by many Buddhists in remembrance of Siddhartha Gautama’s enlightenment, which, according to Buddhist tradition, he attained while meditating under the Bodhi tree. Through meditation, reflection, and acts of kindness, practitioners honor the Buddhist path toward wisdom and compassion. This observance invites us to learn about Buddhist traditions and reflect on how mindfulness and compassion can strengthen our communities.
