Davis Asians for Racial Equality, the City of Davis, and other local organizations are hosting a free event for the Yolo County Day of Remembrance of Executive Order 9066. The event is on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Veterans Memorial Theatre, open to the public.

On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066, which authorized the U.S. army to forcibly remove Japanese Americans from the West Cost.  Two-thirds of whom were held in incarceration camps, effectively uprooting them from their homes. The event aims to educate attendees on the injustice faced by many and to drive the community to collective action.
