SUMMARY:Danzantes del Alma
DESCRIPTION:Danzantes del Alma (DDA)\, the student folklorico dance troupe of UC Davis established in 1977\, has made it possible to celebrate traditional and contemporary Mexican\, Chicanx and Latinx cultures through learning and performing traditional dances of Mexico and contemporary dances of the Chicanx/Latinx experience. \n  \nDDA is coming to the Mondavi Center for their 47th Annual Show\, Historias de mis Raíces (Spanish for Stories of My Roots)\, on Saturday\, April 25th\, 2026. Danzantes del Alma is a popular folklorico dance troupe that is highly regarded for its enthusiasm\, beauty\, and skill. The troupe has performed at numerous campus events and throughout northern California. \n  \nTickets are $16.50 for children (under 18)\, $18 for UC Davis students and $28.50 for others. Tickets are available on the Mondavi Center Ticket Purchase site. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.\, and the show starts at 6 p.m. at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.

DESCRIPTION:2025 Campus Community Book Project Author’s Talk\nDr. Arline T. Geronimus is a renowned public health researcher\, professor\, and author of Weathering: The Extraordinary Stress of Ordinary Life in an Unjust Society\, called a “monumental” book by Ibram X. Kendi\, author of How to be an Antiracist. \nFusing science and social justice\, Geronimus explores the ways in which systemic injustice erodes the health of marginalized people. Until now\, there has been little discussion about the insidious effects of social injustice on the body. Weathering shifts the paradigm\, shining a light on the topic and offering a roadmap for hope. \nFollowing her talk\, entitled “Weathering and Health Equity: Social Identity\, High Effort Coping\, and Joy\,” Geronimus will be joined by Donna Apidone for a Q&A.
