SUMMARY:National Disability Employment Awareness Month 2026
DESCRIPTION:Since the 1970s\, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) has taken place every October. NDEAM reinforces the message across the U.S. that people with disabilities provide invaluable roles and perspectives to our diverse American workforce. \nThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that one in four adults (at least 60 million) in the U.S. live with a disability. This statistic is based on what is reported\, however. So\, it’s possible that the number is higher than what is stated.

SUMMARY:Imagining America National Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Join over 500 participants from the IA network and the University of California\, Davis and Yolo Bioregion community (a geographic and cultural area that includes the cities of Davis\, Woodland\, Winters\, West Sacramento\, and surrounding areas) to engage in deep learning\, collaboration\, and transformative creativity on the theme of Tides of Transition: Restoring Collective Spirit in Troubled Times. We will activate spaces across the UC Davis campus\, in the City of Davis\, and at community-hosted site visits. \nTides of Transition: Restoring Collective Spirit in Troubled Times calls us to re-story and honor the places\, knowledges\, relationships\, and ecologies that have been made broken through centuries of violence and abandonment\, and the current intensifying fear and repression. We know that our communities are tired\, and we know that being together revives our collective spirit\, giving us the strength and inspiration we need in troubled times. In this moment of upheaval\, the 2026 IA National Gathering draws participants to Davis\, CA in the spirit of mending the roots of our connections\, and to “awaken\,” as Buddhist monk and activist Thích Nhất Hạnh teaches\, “from the illusion of our separateness.”
