DESCRIPTION:Presented by the César Chávez Youth Leadership Conference Team (DEI | HSI)  \nSponsored Regional K-16 Collaborative Grant Program \nThe César Chávez Youth Leadership Conference and Celebration is a free college and career motivational event for junior high\, high school and community college students\, as well as parents and community members.  The goal of this annual conference is to introduce the value of attending college – particularly to individuals who may not be considering higher education due to lack of information or financial resources. \nEach year\, the conference delivers an engaging program that: \n\nNurtures the concept that all individuals are leaders;\nProvides information on the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) admission requirements;\nProvides information on the California Community College (CCC) matriculation and enrollment process; and\nIntroduces college success resources and career workforce opportunities in STEM in the public and the private sector.\n\nThis free conference averages over 1800 attendees each year\, from predominantly low-income and underrepresented backgrounds. SUMMARY:UC Davis | Whole Earth Festival
DESCRIPTION:Get excited! This year’s festival will take place Mother’s Day Weekend\, May 9-11th. \nThe Whole Earth Festival began in 1969 as a small art class project (“Art Happening”) on the UC Davis Quad. The students used art to teach visitors about the realms of activism\, wellness\, and environmental sustainability in an interactive and creative way. Following the United Nations’ recognition of Earth Day in 1970\, the event was renamed to the Whole Earth Festival\, fondly nicknamed as “WEF\,” and has since evolved into a free student-run event\, attracting over 30\,000 visitors annually on Mother’s Day weekend. Whole Earth Festival has historically occurred at the UC Davis Quad. Free to attend.
