DESCRIPTION:The celebration of Yolo County Black History Month continues throughout February with a month-long series of events and activities designed to engage\, educate\, and inspire the community. By creating an 8.5” x 11” quilt square\, participants can submit their designs to be included in a countywide quilt display to be showcased at the end of Black History Month. View activity instructions.  \nMaterials Needed: \n\n8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper\nConstruction paper (various colors)\nScissors\, glue\, and/or glue sticks\n\nSubmission Details: Completed quilt squares must be submitted to any Yolo County Library branch or the Yolo County Office of Education by March 3. Classrooms and student groups are highly encouraged to participate. DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Cross Cultural Center \n\nIn February 2025\, Cross Cultural Center Director Joe Martinez will host dialogue sessions on Black History\, Freedom\, & Love: Lessons from Influential Black Voices. Seven preeminent Black thought leaders share their insight on the reckoning with race in America in three parts: past\, present\, and future. We hope you will join us for the session as part of Black Futures Month. These sessions will take place on Tuesdays at noon through Zoom.\n\nTo register for the Zoom sessions\, please complete this form. You can begin the classes for free starting February 1st\, 2025 by watching in MasterClass using this link in your browser https://learn.masterclass.com/blackhistorymonth.\n\nAll folks are welcome to participate\, including multiracial folks and black\, indigenous\, people of color (BIPOC). These online learning and peer-led debrief sessions hosted by the White Accountability and Anti-Racism Collective apply to anyone who would like to learn about how to better support the black community. One of the goals of the sessions is to invite campus community members to engage in critical self-work and skill-building to challenge institutional and cultural racism.
